Puff pastry and ricotta pie with mushrooms

This puff pastry and ricotta pie with mushrooms is a delicious and easy dish to prepare. The crispy puff pastry crust and creamy ricotta-mushroom filling combine to create a treat that's perfect for a casual lunch or elegant dinner.

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/2 cup ricotta
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped mushrooms
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees C.
  2. Line a 23cm tart tin with the puff pastry.
  3. In a large bowl, combine ricotta, parmesan cheese, onion, mushrooms, egg, salt and pepper.
  4. Pour ricotta mixture into prepared puff pastry.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and the filling is firm.

Tips:

  • For a deeper flavor, use shiitake or portobello mushrooms.
  • For a vegetarian version, omit the egg.
  • For a vegan version, use vegan ricotta and vegan parmesan cheese.

Presentation:

Serve the puff pastry and ricotta pie with mushrooms hot or cold. It can be enjoyed as a main dish or as an appetizer.
